Jan Wieland (Founder & CEO/ FIBA Agent),  who is of both German and Finnish descent, was born in Germany. He founded Blacktop Management after a series of injuries put his pro basketball career to an end. Jan played in the USA in high school and college as well as a pro in Europe. Because of his broad horizon from playing in different countries, Jan understands very well the needs and problems upcoming and established basketball players may face, along with the challenges many teams have. Throughout his years of living and playing basketball both domestically and internationally, Jan has built up connections on every level. He also speaks as an global basketball expert at several annual high profile sports career conferences for example during the NBA Summerleague in Las Vegas or the Basketball Career Conference during the prestigious Portsmouh Invitational Tournment just to name a few. Jan holds a business degree in HR Management and is a FIBA certified agent, who speaks English, German, and Finnish fluently. (FIBA licence # 201 202 4814)

Bret Kanis (NBPA Agent/ Attorney) is an agent/attorney with the Hightower Law Firm in Pensacola, Florida and is a National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Certified Player Agent. He has over 15 years of experience representing professional basketball players in the U.S./internationally. Bret’s legal practice includes representing professional athletes in contract negotiations, contract disputes and their off-the-field business ventures and personal matters. He has had the opportunity to work in various capacities as an agent/attorney for athletes in various sports that were high-round draft picks, Hall of Famers and Olympic medalists. Through a strategic alliance, Bret handles all Blacktop Management matters in regards with the NBA and the NBA D-League.
